Some places have a way of making a special moment feel even more magical, and Lake Alexandrina really was the perfect place for Juli and Séamus’ beautiful elopement. Lake Alexandrina is in the heart of the Mackenzie Country, surrounded by snow capped mountains. Truly some of the most incredible scenery of New Zealand’s South Island.
From the very beginning, Juli and Séamus knew they wanted something a little different. They were drawn to the idea of finding a quiet, secluded spot where they could enjoy their ceremony away from the crowds, surrounded by the natural beauty they had imagined. After months of planning from afar, it was so lovely to finally meet them in person and bring their vision to life.
Their ceremony, led by celebrant Dave Moore, was heartfelt and full of meaning. The wind may have added a little drama but it was no match for the joy that we all felt watching these two tie the knot! Afterwards, we spent time exploring the lakeside and capturing photographs. Lake Alexandrina is such a beautiful place for portraits – the blue of the lake, golden tussock, and dramatic alpine backdrop make every angle stunning. As we headed into the evening, the soft golden light made the scenery even more special.
My favourite part of photographing days like this is capturing the moments in between the posed photographs: the fun moments we share, the laughter, the little glances, and the way couples naturally settle into simply enjoying each other’s company. I truly enjoyed every minute with these two special people.
Juli and Séamus, thank you so much for trusting me to capture such a special chapter in your story. It was a real pleasure spending the afternoon with you both at Lake Alexandrina, and I’m so happy that your photographs bring back all the joy and excitement of your day.
Wishing you both a lifetime of love, laughter, and wonderful adventures together!
